UPPER AND LOWER EYELID LIFT / BLEPHAROPLASTY

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift, is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and/or fat from the upper or the lower eyelid.  This excess skin and fat can cause a tired, old, “hooded” look around the eyes and can even result in vision impairment in extreme cases.

Good candidates for eyelid surgery are generally healthy men and women who wish to rejuvenate the look of their eyes. Upper blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia in the office. Lower blepharoplasty is usually performed at a surgery center with anesthesia.  Recovery after surgery takes about 1-3 weeks. All stitches are removed 5-7 days following surgery. All normal physical activity may be resumed in 1 week.

ASIAN EYELID RESHAPING

Asian blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that creates a natural-looking crease in the upper eyelid region. This can give the appearance of having “bigger eyes”. There are different types of creases and techniques that may be required depending on patient and surgeon preference. The goal is to create eyelids that are more harmonious to the face and retain the patients’ ethnicity and heritage.

Good candidates are healthy people who want to change the appearance of their eyes. Asian eyelid reshaping may also be a good option for people with an asymmetric eyelid crease position or people who have inward-pointing eyelashes that cause eye irritation.

Asian blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia in the office.  Recovery after surgery takes about 1-2 weeks. However, it may take up to 12 months for all the swelling to subside.  All stitches are removed 5-7 days after the surgery.  All normal physical activity may be resumed in 1 week.
